The Bureau of Energy Efficiency is a Government of India agency under the Ministry of Power. The agency's function is to develop programs which will increase the conservation and efficient use of energy in India. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency Entrance Exam for the post of Energy Managers and Energy Auditors is conducted by the National Productivity Council (NPC). It is one of the most known Engineering Entrance Exams in India.

The passing of the National level certification examination is the qualification for an energy manager to be appointed or designated as Certified Energy Manager.


Eligibility

For Energy Managers:

  • A Graduate Engineer or equivalent with 3 years of work experience.
  • M.Tech/ M.E. or equivalent with 2 years of work experience.
  • Graduate Engineer with Post Graduate Degree in Management or equivalent with 2 years of work experience.
  • Diploma Engineer or equivalent with 6 years of work experience.
  • Post Graduate in Science with 5 years of work experience.

For Energy Auditors:

  • A Graduate Engineer or equivalent with 3 years of work experience.
  • M.Tech / M.E or equivalent with 2 years of work experience.
  • Graduate Engineer with Post Graduate Degree in Management or equivalent with 2 years of work experience.

Pattern

There will be 4 papers in 2 days i.e. 2 papers each day. Papers I to III have a total of150 marks each and the time allocated for each paper is 3 hours. These three papers have objective questions with multiple choice answers. Paper IV is for 150 marks and the time allocated for it is 2 hours. Paper IV has numerical and descriptive questions.

To qualify as Energy Manager, a candidate has to pass papers I to III with a minimum of 50% marks in each paper.

To qualify as Energy Auditor, a candidate has to pass all four papers with a minimum of 50% marks in each paper.
