The BU DRDO test is conducted by the Bharathiar University for the admission to the M.Tech course in Remote Sensing and GIS. This post graduate degree is a collaborative programme by the DRDO-BUCLS and DRDO-SASE.
In 1958 the Technical Development Establishment (TDEs) of the Indian Army and the Directorate of Technical Development & Production (DTDP) and the Defense Science Organization were merged to form the Defense Research and Development Organization or DRDO. They develop technologies in several disciplines including electronics, aeronautics, armaments, engineering systems advanced computing and simulation, missiles, instrumentations, naval systems, information systems, life sciences and agriculture.

The duration of the test is 3 hours. There are a total of 100 technical questions (based on the subjects mentioned above), 25 questions on General Knowledge and current affairs, and 25 questions on aptitude. The questions are objective with multiple choice answers. Candidates have to appear for an interview after the written test. A board of around 5-6 members asks questions with emphasis on technical questions. The questions asked are basic but require a thorough knowledge of each subject.
