The IIT JEE is now replaced with the JEE (Advanced) entrance exam for candidates who wish to study in the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology spread across India. This test is the second stage of the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE Main). Only those candidates who clear the JEE Main can appear for JEE Advanced so they can study in the IITs.
Candidates must qualify in the JEE main and be one of the top 1, 50,000 candidates to appear for the JEE Advanced.
The JEE Advanced syllabus consists the subjects of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in accordance with the syllabi similar to Class XII of most Boards in India.
There are two papers in the exam, Paper I & Paper II. The duration of each paper is 3 hours. Candidates can select from English or Hindi languages.
There are three sections: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and each section has multiple choice questions. The questions test the comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates. Some sections carry negative marking in the JEE Advanced Entrance.
