The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) conducts Planning and Architecture Common Entrance Test (PACET) for admissions to 5 year B.Arch., 4 year B.Planning and 6 year B.Arch.


Eligibility

The candidate must be an Indian citizen and a native of Andhra Pradesh. The candidate must have completed 16 years age as on the date of admission.

The candidates should have cleared10+2 exam conducted by Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh or any other examination quivalent to it, with at least 50% marks in total.

Candidates who have successfully cleared 3 years of diploma (10+3) in Engineering / Architecture conducted by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Andhra Pradesh or any other examination recognized by the Board with minimum 50% marks in aggregate, are also eligible.


Syllabus

A specific syllabus has not been designed for JNTU PACET. The drawing paper evaluates drawing and sketching skills, sense of perspective drawing, combining and composing 3D objects to form a building or structural form, to create interesting two dimensional composition, creating visual harmony using colors in given composition. Questions test the understanding of scale and sense of proportion, Drawing from memory through pencil sketch on themes of daily experiences, and Visualizing and drawing the effects of light on the object and shadows.

The computer-based section has questions on Architectural awareness, Mental Ability, Analytical Reasoning, Identifying commonly used materials and objects based on their textural qualities, Visualizing different sides of three dimensional object, and Imaginative comprehension and expression.

Questions for Bachelor of Planning program are based on scientific thinking, Fundamental principles and laws of physics, chemistry, biology, Quantitative abilities, Environment and Public Health, Geography, Community awareness, general knowledge- National and local plans, policies, books, authors, planners, Logical thinking, analytical reasoning, Pattern recognition, recognition and identification of symbols, graphic representations etc.


Pattern

The test is divided into two parts: part I tests the drawing aptitude while part II is tests aesthetic sensitivity including perception, awareness, creativity, and imagination of the candidate. Both the test papers are for a 100 marks each and the duration is two hours. For architecture program, the second paper of the exam is computer based. For planning program, the entrance test is a single test of two hours duration, consisting questions based on logical reasoning, scientific thinking and currnt social, health and other issues concerning the country.
