The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) conducts the national level entrance exam to grant admission to the post graduate level Ayurveda medicine courses of its Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS). The University was founded by Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya in the year 1916 and is one of the oldest universities of the country. The university has several institutes offering education in medicine, technology, sciences and humanities.


Eligibility

  • Candidates must be BAMS or equivalent degree holders accepted by BHU and CCIM Alternatively, candidates must be MBBS degree holders accepted by the MCI
  • The candidate must have passed I.Sc (Biology) or similar examination accepted by BHU Candidates (except MBBS degree) should have qualified with Sanskrit as a subject in Intermediate or similar exam or as a part of BAMS exam recognized by Banaras Hindu University
  • Candidates must have done a 12 months internship (4½ years BAMS course)/6 months internship (5 years BAMS course) after passing the qualifying examination.

Syllabus

The entrance exam syllabus is based on the relevant subjects studied at graduation level.


Pattern

Candidates have to answer a single question paper which has 180 multiple choice questions from all the subjects including modern equivalents for the Ayurvedic specialities. Candidates have a total of 2½ hours to finish the test.

For M.B.B.S graduates, there will be a different question paper.

Every correct answer is awarded 3 marks and every incorrect answer fetches a negative marking of -1 mark.

They can also get the form through the office of the Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, Varanasi on submission of a DD of Rs.1600 in favour of the Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, make payable at Varanasi.
