The online application process scheduled to start from November 15 will require students to keep scanned images (in JPEG format only) of their signature, thumb impression and photographs ready. After filling the form online, students will be asked to upload the scanned images to JEE server after which they can pay the examination fee online via debit/credit card. After submission, an acknowledgement slip will be generated that has to be printed and kept safely for future reference. Students can also pay the fee at any branch of listed banks by generating an e-challan online.
Maharashtra, along with Odisha and Gujarat, makes its debut in the new JEE after having scrapped its state specific entrance test called MT-CET. All students who seek admission in state engineering colleges will have to apply for JEE (main).
This exam will also be the sole gateway for admissions to NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutions. The merit rank shall be prepared based on 40% weightage to school Boards marks in Std XII and 60% weightage to JEE (main).
JEE will have Paper I (for BE / B.Tech) and Paper II (for B.Arch / B.Planning) and each will be of three hours. While Paper I is available in both offline and online modes, Paper II is offline only. The prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and ISM Dhanbad will continue to use JEE (Advanced) as their entrance test. Only those students who clear JEE (main) will be eligible to appear for the advanced exam.
