Out of a total of 9,71,831 candidates who have registered for GATE 2016, 8,18,850 students have appeared for the test, of whom 6,81,441 are male and 2,90,347 are female candidates. About 15% to 16% of the candidates who appeared have qualified in the exam. The stream-wise cut-off scores for GATE 2016 is as follows:

Important: The GATE score card will be valid for a period of three years after the declaration of the results.
GATE score helps in obtaining financial assistance during Master's degree programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture, as well as Doctoral programs in relevant branches of science in the institutes that are supported by the MHRD/other government agencies.
