Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission into two year full time Master of Technology (M.Tech) program offered by School of Engineering & Technology (Department of Mechanical Engineering jointly with Department of Electrical Engineering) in Mechatronics and School of Basic Sciences (Departments of Mathematics) jointly with School of Engineering & Technology (Department of Computer Science & Engineering) in Mathematics and Computing and School of Basic Sciences (Departments of Physics jointly with Department of Chemistry) in Nanoscience and Technology for 2012-14. 

Eligibility Conditions

• The program is open to candidates of all categories with bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology / M.Sc or equivalent professional degrees (AMIE, etc.) and having a valid GATE score.
  
  Note: All regular category candidates (except those having B.Tech. degrees from an IIT with a minimum CPI of 8.0) must possess a valid score of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
  
  
• Candidates seeking admission to M.Tech program of the institute shall have to possess a minimum of 60% marks (or a CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale) for general/OBC categories and 55% marks (or a CGPA of 6.0 in 10 point scales) for SC/ST categories in the final qualifying examination.
  
  
• All selected candidates have to produce the certificate with regard to the marks secured in the final qualifying examination by 31^st Oct, 2012
  .
• Reservation of seats for SC, ST, OBC (including OBC Minorities) (Noncreamy layer) and PD categories: As per Govt. of India rules. OBC (including OBC Minorities) (Non-creamy layer) candidates will have to enclose certificate and self-declaration statement as per prescribed format in annexure I, II and III (as applicable) available with the application form. 

How to Apply 

• Prescribed application form can be downloaded from official website.
  
  
• Application form can also be obtained from the Assistant Registrar (Academic), Indian Institute of Technology, Patna, Patliputra Colony, Patna – 800013, Bihar, from 11^th Apr, 2012 by ordinary post or in person. To receive application forms by post, send a request along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope (24cm x 15cm size). Request for form must be sent in an envelope superscribed with ‘Request for M.Tech. Application form’.
  
  
• Filled in application forms complete with copies of mark sheets/certificates and other testimonials (both sides) and a demand draft for Rs.300 for general/OBC candidates and Rs.150 for SC/ST/PD candidates drawn in any nationalized bank and payable at Patna in favor of IIT Patna should be sent to

  to reach on or before 14^th May, 2012. Please mark on the top of the envelope, Application for M.Tech. admission in “ Name of the Specialization ”.
  
  
• Those applying for more than one specialization should make separate application. 

Selection Procedure

• Selection is based on performance in GATE and personal interview of short-listed candidates. Marks obtained in GATE and in personal interview will have 70% and 30% weightage respectively.
  
  
• Personal interview will be held to test the skills in basic science, engineering, and relevant areas. Personal interviews will be conducted at IIT Patna.

• Last date for issuing application forms by post or in person: 7^th May, 2012 (Monday)
• Last date for receipt of completed application forms by IIT Patna is: 14^th May, 2012 (Monday)
