Applications are invited from eligibie candidates for admission into Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) program in the Department of Liberal Arts in the following areas of specializations for 2012. 

  • Cultural Studies
  • Economics
  • English
  • Psychology
  • Social Anthropology and Sociology 

Eligibility Conditions

  • A candidate must secure 55% in M.A/M.Com or 60 % in M.Sc/M.Tech/MBA (or equivalent CGPA) with sufficient background in Humanities and Social Sciences.

  • Shortlisted candidates must clear a written test conducted by the Department of Liberal Arts. 

How to Apply

  • Application form, downloadable from www.iith.ac.in, should be sent to the Professor in-Charge, Liberal Arts, along with a bank challan of Rs.200 (Rs.100 for SC/ST/PD candidates) drawn in favor of ‘Registrar, IIT Hyderabad’ payable at Hyderabad. At the back of the challan kindly write your name and specialization.

  • The filled-in application form through email attachment and as hard copy must be submitted to the Professor in-Charge along with the scanned copy of the challan. Please download the bank challan from the following link: http://www.iith.ac.in/admissions/phd.html

  • Please send your completed application forms to

Note

The envelope should be clearly labeled "M. Phil. Admission Liberal Arts" in bold letters. A written test will be conducted on 14th May, 2012. 

Selection Procedure

  • Mere fulfillment of the minimum educational qualification does not necessarily entitle applicants to a call for the written test. The Institute reserves the right to call only the requisite number of M.Phil candidates based on qualification and suitability.
