Assam Agricultural University, abbreviated as AAU, is a public university of agricultural studies, research and learning and is located in Jorhat, Assam, India. The university was formed in the year 1969 by the Government of India and is affiliated by the ICAR. Mr. Komal Malla Bujarbaruah is the vice-chancellor of the university.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D programs in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, horticulture, agricultural engineering and agribusiness management. The admission process of the university is done through the common entrance examination conducted by the university and selection of the candidates are done on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination. There are six constituent colleges of the university which includes College of Agriculture, Jorhat College of Veterinary Science (C.V.Sc.), Khanapara Biswanath College of Agriculture, Biswanath Chariali, Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science (L.C.V.Sc.), North Lakhimpur and College of Fishery Science, Raha. The research station of university are Gossaigaon - Lower Brahmaputra Valley Zone, Titabar - Upper Brahmaputra Valley Zone, Shillongoni - Central Brahmaputra Valley Zone,North Lakhimpur - North Bank Plain Zone,Diphu - Hill Zone and Karimganj - Barak Valley Zone. The university has its own central library which contain tons of books and reading material for students.
