The Central University of Jharkhand is an autonomous, public, Central University located in the Ranchi district of the State of Jharkhand, India. The University was established by the Government of India after the Act no.25 of 2009 was passed by the Indian Parliament. The act was given a go ahead by the President of India on the 20th of March 2009, a few months after the University was officially inaugurated on the 15th of January of 2009.
The Central University of Jharkhand constitutes of various schools which run various departments and centres. The School of Management Sciences oversees the Centre for Business Administration, the Centre for International Relations and the Centre for Human rights and Conflict Management. The School of Natural Sciences oversees the Centre for Applied Physics, Centre for Applied Mathematics, the Centre for Applied Chemistry and the Centre for Life Sciences. The School of Languages constitutes of the Centre for English Languages and the Centre for Fast East Languages. The School of Engineering and Technology currently support the Centre for Energy Engineering and the Centre for Nanotechnology. The School of Cultural Studies supports the Centre for Tribal and Customary Law, Tribal Language, Culture and Folklore, Centre for Indigenous Culture Study and Performing Arts. The School of Natural Resource and Management enshrines the Centre for Land Resource Management, the Centre for Environmental Science and the Centre for Water Engineering and Management. The other Schools in the University include the School of Mass Communication and Media Technologies among others. The University campus houses residential capacity for over 1000 students, and includes other amenities such as gym, banks, ATM machines and canteens.
