The Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University also called DBATU, is a state university of unitary nature, situated in Lonere, in the district of Raigad, Maharashtra India. It was established under the Government of Maharashtra Act 1983, in 1989, by the State Government of Maharashtra. The entire campus area of the University exceeds 500 acres, and is situated in the town of Lorene, also called the College Town. The location is approximately 30km from the Mahad city, and about 10 km off the Mangaon tehsil. The Raigad fort is also located just 22 kms away.
The University has eight academic departments, which are, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Information technology, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering, and finally Mechanical Engineering. The University offers postgraduate and undergraduate programs in the above mentioned fields of Engineering. The Bachelor of Technology, or the B.Tech degree is awarded on completion of the four year undergraduate program, while the Master of Technology, or the M.Tech degree is awarded on the completion of the two year postgraduate program, both of which are awarded in the fields of electronics and telecommunication, environmental, computer, chemical, thermal and fluids and manufacturing engineering. In addition to the above, the University also awards Ph.D, Advanced Diploma and Diploma degrees.
The DBATU plays host to many student organized events all throughout the year. Some of the major activities include, the ISTE Student chapter activities , N.C.C, blood donation camps, sports activities, publication of magazines, National Service Scheme activities, and activities of various Students Associations, such as the MESA, ACES, EESA, CESA, TEESA, ChESA, PESA, FIT etc. The University hosts around 150 admin staff and 4000 students.
