English and Foreign Languages University, also known as EFL, is a public university of foreign languages and is located in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. The university was established in the year 1958 as central institute of English but in august 2007, the university was renamed as English and Foreign Languages University. EFL university has four operation campuses which includes Hyderabad, Lucknow, Shillong and Malapuram. Prof Sunaina Singh is the vice-chancellor of the EFL university. The university land was gifted to Andhra Pradesh by the government of Kerala for academic purpose.
The university offers degree in English, Arabic, Spanish, Hindi, Italian, Chinese, German, Japanese, Turkish, Russian, Persian, French, Italian, portuguese and Korean. EFL also offers courses like M.A. in cultural studies, M.Phil, Ph.D, film studies, history, literature, anthropology, B.A., B.Ed in english, ELT, literature, European studies, communication studies, language studies and sociology. EFL is the only university in india which teaches and offers degree in foreign languages. The admission process is through national level common entrance test conducted by the EFL university.
