The Gujarat Technical University , also known as GTU, is an institution of higher education, affiliating various well known pharmacy, engineering and management colleges across the state of Gujarat. The University was established by the State Government of Gujarat on the 16th of May 2007. Historically, Gujarat University was the only University in Gujarat that headed all the technical as well as non technical colleges. To decrease the workload on the Gujarat University and to impart, better and more systematic technical education, the State Government of Gujarat decided to found the Gujarat Technological University.
The Gujarat Technological University offers its master’s programmes at over 220 colleges and 25000 students all over the state of Gujarat. The University has multiple postgraduate research centres, namely, the Center for Mobile Computing and Wireless Technologies, Center for Environmental and Green Technologies, Center for Cybersecurity, Center for Environment and Energy Efficiency Tools, Center for Technology Education, Center for Infrastructure, Transportation and Water Management, Center for Global Business Studies, Center for Financial Services, Center for Business Ethics and CSR, Center for MArketing Excellence and the Center for Pharmaceutical Studies and Drug Delivery Technologies. The Gujarat Technological University affiliates with various colleges for Degree, Diploma and Masters in engineering and other fields, to PhD level.
