The Indian Agricultural Research Institute, also known as Pusa Institute, is a public university for higher education and learning and is located in Pusa, Delhi. It was established in 1905 and is funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICSR). IARI has conducted research in “Green Revolution in India” back in 1970. The campus occupies the land of 500 hectares and it is about 8 km from the Delhi Railway Station. Initially the institute was located at the outskirt of the Delhi but later on the campus moved near city.

The admission process for the M.Sc and M.Tech programmes are through education division of ICAR, it is based on the merit and ICAR decide the final candidate for 24 deiciplines at IARI. The admission process for Ph.D programmes on the basis of the students performance in written entrance test conducted by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute. The Institute also has schools for different departments which includes School of Crop Improvement, School of Plant Protection, School of Basic Sciences, School of Natural Resource Management, School of Social Sciences and School of Horticultural Science.
