Indian Institute of Management - IIM Tiruchirappalli, Thiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu

The Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli also called IIM Trichy or IIM-T, is a public and autonomous graduate business school based in the district of Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, India. It is one of the seven new IIMs commissioned by the Government of India during the 11th Five Year Plan. The Institute was inaugurated on the 4th of January of 2011, which makes it the eleventh Indian Institute of Management to be established by the Government. The Institute is currently under the mentorship of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. The first batch of classes commenced on the 15th of June 2011. Prafulla Agnihotri, a former professor at IIM Calcutta is the current director of IIM Tiruchirappalli.

Currently the Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli functions from a temporary campus at the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli while its permanent campus is still under construction. The NIT campus currently provides IIM Trichy with the required buildings for classes, accommodation and hostel facilities. The permanent campus is to be located on an area 200 acres large located somewhere between the Anna University of Technology and the Bharathidasan University on the highway between Pudukottai and Tiruchirappalli. It lies approximately 12 kilometers from the Tiruchirapalli International Airport and about 17 kilometers from the city centre. The Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirapalli also has its own satellite centre at Chennai in Ekkattuthangal from where it offers a three year executive postgraduate program for experienced working professionals.

The Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli currently offers its flagship course, the full time, two year Postgraduate Programme in Management. The aim of the course is to help develop young women and men, into capable professional managers, competent enough to work in any sector or department in any organized activity or organization while proceeding with leadership and achieving above par performance excellence, and also contributing to the society in a meaningful way. The other courses offered at IIM Trichy include the Fellow Programme in Management, a programme for doctoral students, and a part time, three year, post graduate programme in Business Management meant only for experienced, working executives. The Postgraduate programme in Business Management is also offered from the Chennai Campus of the IIM.

The library at IIM Trichy is called the Learning Resource Centre. It offers a state of the art, vibrant environment for learning, consisting exclusively of material dedicated to Management and Businesses. The wireless RFID Technology is used to enable wireless check ins and check outs for books and documents, to provide convenience to the students. The centre is also fully WiFi enabled, allowing instant access to e-resources. Current e-resources include the ABI Inform Complete, ScienceDirect, EBSCO Business source complete, Manupatra, JSTOR, CRISIL, Financial Times Education, CMIE, INSIGHT, CAPITALINE, ACM digital library, Euromonitor International -Passport and the OPAC online catalogue.
