The Indian Institute of Management Udaipur, also called IIMU, is an autonomous business school, established in Udaipur, Rajasthan, by the Government of India in 2011. The plan to establish a University in Udaipur was decided in 2009, when a blueprint for 7 new IIMs was laid out by the Government in the 11th 5 year plan. IIMU formally began operations in a temporary campus in the Polymer Science Building at the Mohanlal Sukhandia University of Udaipur. A fully fledged campus is being prepared on a 253 acre piece of land in the Balicha region of Udaipur.

IIM Udaipur, just like its sister IIMS, only offers diplomas in management, and not degrees. The PGP diploma, is a full time, residential, 2 year course. The Postgraduate Programme is Management is the flagship programme in IIM Udaipur, similar to that in other IIMs. IIMU holds a unique advantage though, with its elective International business and practices course, students work for a few months on live projects outside of India. The other course offered at IIMU, is the Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives, a one year full time residential course, for professionals with work experience. Half the module of this course, is conducted in the Purdue University in USA, a university established in 1869. The 15 month, dual degree programme, rewards the students with a PGPX Diploma from the IIM, and an MS degree from the University of Purdue.

The admission to IIMU happens through the CAT exam for the PGP Diploma, and GMAT for the PGPX programme. IIM Udaipur has an active student life, with many clubs and societies on campus, which are managed by the students. Some of the clubs include, Media and Industry Interaction Cell, COL COMM, Prayatna, ConnectIT, Potpourri, ConsultU, Finomina, LakeSiders, Silvertongues, MERC, MESS COMM, Skein among other. The Council of Student Affairs is the top body which controls all the aspects of other clubs and societies. The Academic Council facilitates the managing of academic systems in the IIM. It is an interface between the faculty and the students, along with being responsible for the bidding of courses. The Institute also has an active student exchange program with over 6 institutes around the globe.
