Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, commonly known as IIT-GN or IIT Gandhinagar, situated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. IITGN was established in the year 2008 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, under the act of IIT Act, 2011. At first the institute started its temporary campus at Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Chandkheda. The IITGN is affiliated by IIT Bombay since the year 2008.

The Campus of IIT-GN will be located at the bank of Sabarmati, near Palej Village. The campus is spread out in the area of 400 acres and will be run on solar energy. The mission of IITGN to have pollution-free and green zone that is why it will supply power through solar panels.

Institute of Technology Gandhinagar offers B.Tech program in electrical Engineering , Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering , and Chemical Engineering,. Admission process of IIT-GN is similar to all IIT’s, candidates has to go through Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE). Students can apply for these exams after completing their 10+2 schooling. IITGN also offers Masters and Ph.D courses in various subjects, to get admission for these courses students have to go through written test or personal interviews. IIT-GN also offers five weeks of foundation programs for upcoming batches of JEE, this program started from the year July 2011. This foundation program of IIT-GN was inaugurated by MR. N.R. Narayan Murthy on 19th July 2011.

The main courses which is offered by IIT-GN is B.Tech in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil and Electrical Engineering. M.Tech in Metallurgy Materials Science and Civil, Mechanical, Chemical and Electrical Engineering. Ph.D in Science, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer science, Electrical Engineering, humanities and social sciences, philosophy, sociology and Metallurgy and Material Science. The first batch crowd of IIT-GN was 117 and 2013 batch has 140 students.

Infrastructure of IIT-GN is impeccable, the campus LAN setup integrate the institute into single unit and hostel premises has wi-fi facility. The campus also includes HPC Lab and library which has collection of more than 11,000 books which includes textbooks and reference books with hundred sixty five print journal.

IIT-GN also have annual festivals such as Amalthea, its an exhibition of spreading technical knowledge and suffusing enthusiasm. Blithchron, is a cultural festival of IIT-GN, has inter-college competition on different theme. IIT-GN have facility of part-time job, students can work part time on the campus to earn some pocket money. Apart from the part time job IIT-GN also organise four-week summer camp for undergraduate students every year with theme of ‘design’.
