Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Mandi, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh

Indian Institute of Technology Mandi, also known as IIT Mandi or IIT-M, is an institute for higher education in technology and engineering located in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. IIT Mandi was established in 2009 by the Ministry of HRD, government of India under the at of The Institutes of Technology act 2011. IIT Mandi is majorly supervised by IIT Roorkee and it hosted the first batch of the IIT Mandi at its campus.

The first foundation stone of IIT Mandi was laid at Kamand on 24th February 2009. It was also registered as a society in Uttarakhand on June 20th 2009. IIT Mandi’s first batch started in 2009 and the classes took place at IIT Roorkee.

The campus of IIT Mandi is around 12 km away from the main city of Mandi. The location of the campus is surrounded by forested hills of Kamand and river Uhl. The area of campus is spread out in 565 acres and land has been allocated to IIT Mandi by government of Himachal Pradesh.

Indian Institute of Technology Mandi offers Bachelor of Technology programmes in 3 departments which is Electrical engineering degree, Computer science and engineering degree, and Mechanical engineering. The academic year is divided in two semesters with cutting-edge examination procedure throughout the mid-semesters, quizzes and term-end exams. The courses also includes assignments, term-papers, short-projects, surprise-test/quizzes and tutorials. Apart from this IIT Mandi also offers programs of postgraduate level such as Master of science, Ph.D program, research in chemical sciences, physical sciences, bachelor degree in technology and disciplines of engineering.

The admission process of IIT Mandi is done through JEE ( Joint Entrance Examination) which is conducted jointly by the IITs around the India. M.S of Engineering and Science is also offered by IIT Mandi and the eligibility criteria of this course is bachelor’s degree in engineering/technology or masters degree in sciences with good score in GATE/NET or students should have score in equivalent national level examination or GRE in relevant subject.

IIT Mandi also have regular faculty and project associates and the four operational schools in it’s campus which is school of humanities and social sciences, school of basic sciences, school of engineering and Technology, and school of computing and electrical engineering . Students of IIT Mandi campus is usually divided across these schools.
