Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Patna, Patna, Bihar

Indian Institute of Technology Patna, also known as IITP or IIT Patna, is an institute of research and education in technology, science and engineering located in Patna, India. IIT Patna project was passed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under the act of The Institute of Technology act, 2011. IIT Patna campus is located in Bihta, around 35 km from the Panta. The campus is spread out in the area of 500 acres. The IITP is currently under construction and the foundation stone was laid by Mr. Kapil Sibal in 2011. The IITP campus supposedly will be ready by june 2014.

The campus is divided into four main blocks, Academic blocks, Mechanical engineering block, science block and electrical engineering block. Academic block’s classroom have modern audio-visual electronic gadgets. It also includes laboratories of Chemistry, Physics and computer science. The computer centre of the Academic block has around 18 GPS internet connections and high-class server infrastructure. Science block has laboratories of Mathematics, Physics and chemistry including faculty room. The block also have the facility of science research and optics research of physics department along with chemistry instruments and chemistry research and also computational research of mathematics department.

Mechanical engineering block has mechanical engineering laboratories which includes basic and conventional manufacturing lab, CAD/CAM lab, Fluid Mechanics lab, advanced manufacturing lab, heat and mass transfer lab, material testing lab, IC engine lab, instruments and control lab, MEtrology and metallographic lab, polymer engineering lab, robotics lab. Electrical engineering block has mission of high quality education and research. The focus of research areas are signal processing, electric drives, communication, VLSI and power electronics, and power systems. The electrical engineering department has springer, science direct, online access to IEL and many more online journals.

IIT-P offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Undergraduate programs includes B.tech in electrical engineering, B.tech in computer science and engineering, B.tech degree in mechanical engineering , B.tech degree in Civil Engineering, and B.tech degre in chemical engineering. Postgraduate programs includes Master of technology in mathematics and computing, M.tech in computer science, M.tech in Nanotechnology, M.tech in Communication system, M.tech in MEchatronics. To deliver high standard education IIT Patna has collaborated with foreign universities such as national university of Singapore (NUS), Louisiana state university USA, University of Houston, Texas USA, University of Hartford, Connecticut USA, University of New South Wales, Australia, University of Missouri, Columbia USA, University of Saskatchewan Canada, University of North Texas-Denton USA.
