The International Institute for Population Sciences, abbreviated as IIPS, is a public university of higher education, learning and research and is located in Mumbai, India. The university was formed in the year 1956 by the Government of India. In the year 1985 the university was announced as a Deemed University under the UGC act, section 3 by the Ministry of Human Resource. The director of the university is Prof Faujdar Ram.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and Ph.D programs in population studies, correspondence course, philosophy, health promotion educations, short term courses. The admission process for undergraduate and postgraduate is done through the common entrance examination conducted by the university and the selection of the students are based on their performance in the examination. The admission for Ph.D program is done through the personal interviews. The academic department of the university includes department of migration & urban studies, department of fertility studies, department of mathematical demography & statistics, department of development studies, department of public health & mortality studies, department of extramural studies and distance education and department of development studies.
