Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, abbreviated as JNKV, is a public university of agricultural studies and research and is located in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. The university was formed in the year 1964. The university is affiliated with University Grants Commission (UGC) and Governor. Madhya Pradesh is the chancellor and Dr. V.S. Tomar is the Vice-chancellor of the university.
The university is divided into two sections, Faculty of agriculture and faculty of agricultural engineering. The faculty of agriculture has two academic departments which includes, department of agriculture and department of forestry. The faculty of agricultural engineering has six academic departments which includes department of agricultural structure and environment engineering, department of farm machinery and power, instrument development and services centre, department of soil and water engineering, department of applied physics and agriculture meteorology and department of post harvest process and food engineering.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D and diploma certificates in agriculture, forestry and agricultural engineering. The admission process of the university is done through common entrance test conducted by the university. The university also has research department on the campus and there are two research stations known as ZARS and RARS. currently, the on-going project of the research department is hybrid rice, chickpea, agricultural engineering, soil science, agronomy, soybean, seed and horticulture. The campus offers facilities like placement cell, hostel, cultural activities, counseling cell, career opportunities, awards, consultancy processing cell and sports activities. The library of the university owns over thousands books, thesis database, online journals, manuscripts, reading material and reference material.
