Mahatma Phule Agricultural University, abbreviated as MPAU, is a public university of agricultural studies, learning and research and is located in Rahuri, Ahmednagar, India. The university was named after former social worker and activist, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D programs in agriculture, horticulture, agricultural engineering, farm management. The admission is done through the common entrance examination conducted by the university. The university has its own research department which is sponsored by the Government, national and international agencies. The on-going project of the research department are crop improvement programs, cereal crops, pulse crops, oilseed crops, forage crops, commercial crops, Arid horticulture, vegetable crops, floriculture crops, dryland farming, water management, postharvest management of fruits and vegetable, biochemistry, animal science, medicinal and aromatic plants, animal sciences and agricultural engineering. The library of the university is the house of over lakh books along with other reading material, manuscripts, journals, reference material, online database any many more.
The university also provide modern amenities to its students which includes gym, sports club, shopping complex, bank, post office, residential areas for staff members, hostel (separate for boys and girls), canteen, computer lab, science lab, wi-fi connection, auditorium, etc. For students recreation activities, the campus has students counselling, students welfare, students clubs or organizations. Whereas, the university also become a host of cultural event/festival organised by students at the campus. Plenty of students from other colleges participate in festival every year.
The activities of the cultural festival includes Dj nights, quiz competition, dance, music, exhibition, tech exhibition, debate, etc.
