The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, abbreviated as NIFTEM, is a public university of higher education, learning and research and is located in Sonepat, HAryana, India. It was formed in the year 2006 by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI). The campus occupies the land of 100 acres and is surrounded by the lush and greenery.
The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in food technology and management and Ph.D and research in extension activities. The admission procedure is done through the common entrance examination conducted by the university and the selection of the candidates are based on their performance in the examination. The university also offers 15% reservation to SC class 7.5% to ST class, 3% to PH class and 27% seats are reserved for OBC class. The university also provide medical certificates to the students who are physically challenged There are five academic departments of the university which includes food business management & entrepreneurship development, food science and technology, basic and applied science, engineering and agriculture and environmental science.
There are plenty of career opportunity for the NIFTEM passed out students, few of them includes food analyst, product development scientist, nutrition specialist, food microbiologist, sensory scientist, nutrition specialist, quality control supervisor, food process engineer, food fermentation specialist, food regulatory affairs specialist and food ingredient manager. The facilities offered by the university are education, integrated research, enterprise incubation, hostels, accommodation for staff and faculty member, sports activities for the students, computer labs, library, research departments and etc.
