The National Institute of Technology, Arunachal Pradesh (NIT Arunachal Pradesh), is an institute of Engineering and Technology, located in Yupia, Arunachal Pradesh, India. It was established in 2010 by the Government of India and it is classified as an Institute of National Importance. The campus is situated around 18 km from Itanagar and about 1 km from Naharlagun. Harmutty is the nearest railway station from the campus of NIT-Arunachal Pradesh.
NIT-Arunachal Pradesh was monitored by NIT-Durgapur till late 2011 but recently Dr.C.T. Bhuniya has been appointed as Director of NIT-Arunachal Pradesh. It offers undergraduate ( four years B.Tech and five years B.Arch.) and postgraduate programs in engineering and technology. it possess 3 academic departments, over 15 faculty members, approximately 180 students. Every year about 90 students enroll for B.Tech programs, 30 in each departments. Additionally, NIT-Arunachal Pradesh is opening 3 more academic departments which includes Civil-engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Biotech Engineering. It also offers Ph.D programs for Computer Science and Technology departments and the session is functional since 2012-2013. The admission process for undergraduate program is through All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) organised by CBSE, New Delhi. Admission procedure for postgraduate programs is through GATE ( Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering). NIT-Arunachal Pradesh also have reservation policy through which 27% of seats is reserved for Other Backward Classes (OBCs), 15% for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes (STs). Foreign students can apply for the programs through Direct Admission for Students Abroad Scheme (DASA). DASA is a scholarships program awarded by Government of India to non-resident Indians.
The academic departments of NIT-Andhra Pradesh includes Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Department of Biotechnology Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Departments to start this academic session 2013-2014, .
There are six hostel at the campus of NIT-Arunachal Pradesh which is divided into two parts, girls hostel and boys hostel. Each hostel has its own private mess and warden. There are 4 hostels have been assigned to boys and 2 hostels for girls. There are two major annual festival organised by NIT-Arunachal Pradesh every year, Youthfolie and Swastik. Youthfolie is an annual cultural cum sports festival, which is held in the month of March every year. Swastik is an annual sports festival, which is held in the month of November every year.
