National Law University and Judicial Academy Assam, abbreviated as NLUJAA, is a public university of higher education, research and learning and is located in Guwahati, Assam, India. It was founded in the year 2010 by the Government of Assam and is dedicated to legal education. Chief justice of Gauhati high court is the chancellor and Dr Gurjeet Singh is the Vice-Chancellor of the NLUJAA university. The campus of the university is spread out in 21 acres and the university is affiliated with Bar Council of India, UGC.
NLUJAA university offers undergraduate programs which includes, BA, LLB (hons), the program is for 5-years and it includes subjects like Social science, Economics, Political Science, History, English, Psychology, Public Administration and sociology. In fifth year of LLB, students have choices in subjects which is business and intellectual property law, constitutional lae, administrative law, consumer protection and environmental law, criminal law and criminology, international law and human rights. Students can select among these subjects and pursue their studies in any of these five different stream.
Postgraduate degrees offers two years of LLM programs with specialization in business law, constitutional law, consumer protection law, criminal law, environmental law, human rights law, intellectual property law and international law. The admission process for these courses are through CLAT, Common Law Admission Test, which was introduced by Supreme court in 2008. Both, undergraduate and postgraduate admission decision is based on the students performance in CLAT exams. At NLUJAA, each and every students given individual attention and professors gives them attention in planning for their career and future.
