The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences is an institution located in the city of Bangalore in Karnataka, India. The University was established in 1996 with a goal to not only promote, but also regulate higher education in the various fields of health sciences in Karnataka.
The University was established under the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Act which was passed by the Government of Karnataka in the year of 1994. The motto of the University is “Right for Rightful Health Science Education”. The University has a large board of experts who help develop, review, observe, recommend and decide on various regulations and standards to be implemented such as the student evaluation, college affiliations, curriculum, students, faculty, examiners and inspection teams. The boards include the academic council, board of students, affiliation council, BOAE and the local inspection council. The activities of the University are governed by not only the aforementioned boards, but also councils, syndicate and the senate. The registrar is the head administrator and has complete operational authority.
The University has changed its evaluation methods from the year of 2012. Formerly, exams at the undergraduate level would involve three evaluations and the average performance from the nearest two scores would determine the candidate's final scores, while at the postgraduate level the average of the nearest four scores out of five were considered. Now the format is revised where the average from the top four scores are considered. Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences also plans to make further use of technology to discourage cheating and other malpractices during the course of the exams.
