The Raksha Shakti University is a state university, set up by the Government of Gujarat, as a specialized police science University. The University was build in response to increasing crime rates, organized crimes, terrorism, internal security, economic offenses and other crimes that are related to juveniles. The Raksha Shakti University will undertake exhaustive scientific research in the fields of security management and police administration. The youth are prepared at this University to meet the universal requirement for quality security forces. To that end, the University conducts diploma courses, degree courses as well as in service courses for those who are already in the police.
The Raksha Shakti University has two campuses the first one located near a village called Lavad. This campus has various facilities such as a parade ground, an academic block, a training wall designed to carry out different tasks such as climbing, tunnel training, crawling, ropeway training etc, a outdoor field for sports with horse riding and obstacle training facilities as well as housing for boys and girls. The second campus is located near Meghaninagar and has been operational since the 24th of October 2009. This campus features a Gymnasium, a band, a computer lab, a library, games, guest house and transportation for students. The courses offered at Raksha Shakti University include, Diploma in Police Science, Post Graduation diploma in Police Science, Computer Course on Police Applications, MA in Criminology, Course on crime scene management and Tourist Police. A number of courses are planned for the future including MSc in Forensic Science, Master in Cyber Forensic, Diploma in Traffic Management, Vertical Interaction Programme among many others.
