St. Peter's University, is a private university of higher education, learning and research and is located in Avadi, Chennai, India. The university was established in the year 1992 by the St Joseph Educational Trust. The university was announced as ‘university’ in the year 2008. The campus of the university is located about 1.5 km from the railway station of Annaur and approximately 3 km away from the Railway station of Avadi.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D programs in computer science, electronics and communication, aeronautical, electronics and instrumentation, biotechnology, electrical engineering, information technology, mechanical production, medical and biochemical. The admission process is done through the common entrance examination conducted by the university and the selection of the students are done on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination. There are four academic departments of the university which include management's, sciences & humanities, engineering and computer application.
The university also has distance learning programmes which started in the year 200-2010 and is open to everyone in India. The university provide self-instructional study materials, practical classes, face-to-face counseling, virtual class, internal assessment and ead assessment to students who has enrolled for the distance learning programs. It has various study centers across the country and student can apply anywhere and chooses the learning centres as per their convenience. The university also offers various facilities for students which includes, hostels, library, canteen, internet facilities, gym, sports club, cultural events and many more. The university also has its own research departments which is funded by various national and international organizations.
