University of Agricultural Sciences, also abbreviated as UAS, is a public university of agricultural sciences studies and research and is located in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. The university was formed in the year 1994 by a legislative act. Mr H.R. Bharadwaj is the chancellor and Mr. K Narayan Gowda is the Vice-Chancellor of the UAS university. The university is affiliated with UGC.
The university has been awarded as a title of ‘best agricultural university’ in India twice by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D programs in agriculture, fisheries, dairy sciences, horticulture, forestry, sericulture, agricultural marketing and co-operation and agriculture engineering. It offers 34 programs for Ph.D and 47 for post graduation. The admission process is done through the common entrance examination conducted by the university. It also offers few non-degree course which includes, 2 months certificate course in bakery technology, one week program for selected professional, one month course of bakery product for commercial development or self-employment, three days home bakery course for women and correspondence program to educate the farmers in paddy and scientific cultivation of Mulberry and Silk rearing sericulture.
The university has its own research department and library on the campus. The sports club have activities like volleyball, chess, lawn tennis, basketball, shuttle, ball badminton, inter college competition and many more. It also offers facilities like hostels (separate for boys and girls), residential area for staff member, wi-fi connection, auditorium, gym, cultural events, medical facility, bank and many more.
