University of Agricultural Sciences, abbreviated as UAS, is a public university of agricultural studies and research and is located in Raichur, Karnataka, India. It was established in the year 2009 by the Government of Karnataka. Governor of Karnataka is the chancellor of the UAS university. The university is affiliated by the UGC.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D programs. The admission is done through the common entrance examination conducted by the university. The selection of the candidates are done on the basis of their performance in the examination. The amenities provided by university includes library, hostel (boys and girls separate), computer with internet facility, health center, canteen, SBI bank, playground, gym, consumer store, shopping complex, DTP and reprographic center. The university has its own research department on the campus and organisations like world back, BARC, ICAR, DBT, GOK, NAIP, sponsors the funding of the research department.
The university only cater 70 students per year for undergraduate programs, 30 students for postgraduate programs and about 5-6 students every year for Ph.D program. The university has four constituent colleges, which includes College of Agriculture, Raichur, College of Agriculture, B Gudi, College of Agricultural Engineering, Raichur and College of Agriculture, Gulbarga. The university also started Right to Information Act (RTI) from the 3rd June, 2013. The university offers 90 percent placement to students every year and there are big companies/agencies are associated with the placement cell of the university. Every year UAS students organise annual cultural festivals/events and candidates from other colleges take part in this event.
