The University of Hyderabad is a public university for higher education, mostly devoted to Postgraduate and Ph.D. The University was established in 1974 and it is also known as Hyderabad Central University. It has 46 academic departments, approximately 5000 students and over 400 faculty members.
The UoH offers around 150 academic programs which include postgraduate degrees, Masters Degrees and few distance learning courses. Sukoon is the major annual festival of the University of Hyderabad, which is held in March every year. Many interesting events and competitions like Mr. & Ms. Sukoon Competition, quiz, debate, antakshari, shayari, spot painting, DJ Night, Qawali, folk musical events are being organized by students.
